How to Ride a Skateboard?
Skateboarding is one of the most popular and cult street sports. It is more than just a means of transportation that requires balance, the strength of legs, and endurance. Skateboarding can be considered as part of a healthy outdoor lifestyle, but it is also a dangerous sport to be approached with caution. It is important to familiarize yourself with the theory beforehand to understand how to learn to skateboard properly using appropriate protective equipment.
General Skateboarding Tips
Skates come in different sizes and styles. The two main ones are classic skateboards and longboards. The former have curved noses and tails for easy tricks, most are 20 cm wide and about 77 cm long. They can be purchased for skateboarding in a skatepark or outdoors.
Longboards, or cruisers, have longer (twice as long as a classic skateboard) and flat bodies, which makes them much more stable. They are suitable for skateboarding for beginners as a way to ride on a flat and elevated surface. Choose the board according to your needs.
We recommend purchasing a skateboard in a specialized sports goods store. Cheap skateboards from the supermarket break down quickly and it is difficult to sharpen your riding technique.
So, you have just bought your first skateboard and are ready to absorb the information on the skateboard basic. By that time you should have gotten familiar with the board mechanism (suspension, wheels, bearings, and deck) and protective equipment.
How to Start Skateboarding?
To become an expert, you begin skateboarding with the basics and gradually move on to more complex things.
Learning how to skateboard starts with the ability to stand on a skateboard. Skateboarding, like all sports on a board, requires that one leg is in front and the other one is in the back. Your front (leading) foot provides balance, while your back foot drives and controls the board. Try the following trick to understand this: ask a friend to gently push you from behind, and then mark which leg you are stepping on to catch your balance. You will find that this foot is the most comfortable as a guide when you ride the board.

The second way is to move your weight to the tail of the board, trying not to touch the ground with it. How to Teach Kids to Skateboard?

You can start at the age of 3, using mini-versions of standard boards, which are produced by most major manufacturers. These boards are about 17 cm wide and 70 cm long.
The technique of skateboarding control does not differ from that of an adult described above. The main thing to emphasize is to keep the balance. Explain to your child that the head is responsible for the balance. If it moves, then the body also moves, which means that there is an imbalance. Therefore, teach the child to put his legs in the correct stand, as described above, while keeping his head straight and at the same distance from each leg. Make sure that the knees of the beginner are almost bent, not bound, the back is flat.
Explain how to properly fall from the skateboard, if the board went in the wrong direction. Falling should be grouped to land on your shoulder and roll over to your back, pressing your elbows to your body and covering your head from the impact. You should not put your straight arms forward.
